Welcome Evening 2023 -Thank you!
Oh, what a night! We had over 750 attend the Welcome Evening on March 24. Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the activities prepared by various parent groups as well as the P&C-sponsored activities.
The photos speak a thousand words, however, I do want to thank all our stall holders made up of parents and their families for delivering engaging activities for all to enjoy.
We had a Korean stall, a Chinese culture stall, a Philippine stall, a Pakistani stall, an Indonesian stall, and an Indian culture stall. Thank you to our Korean mums for donating the materials needed for their stall activities. All henna used on the night was kindly donated by the henna artists. The Pakistani ladies even cooked Gulab jamun, and pakoras and supplied lemon & rose water drinks for us to sample and enjoy. Everyone was so generous in sharing their time and talent in order for our school community to learn about their culture. Special thanks to. Harjit Singh for adorning many heads with turbans. You were very busy! Dr. Jags MLA for coming along and donating proceeds towards the portable light tower in the basketball court. Nimar Singh and Binny Kaur - For teaching the carrom game to so many and assisting Harjit on the night. Alton and Rickeeta Walley for a beautiful Noongar opening story. All the parents were involved in running the canteen that evening. They were very busy selling sausages, samosas, mango lassis, and more. Sara Alagappan – for being a fabulous emcee for the program Mrs Jenny Coleman for leading the 100 + strong choir all the EAL Team for setting up and running the event. Admin staff and teaching staff who attended to support the event by being there. Our ex-students helped man the gates and count in the attendees. Michael Boase and Peter Evans brought 50 African drums and made it so much fun to try to keep in rhythm. Kyla Morgan and Jennifer Ash, our face painters, all our henna artists who worked non-stop to keep up with dem and Portia and Janelle Misamen for teaching our guest Tinkling and the sipa skills Ms. Yumi Sale and Ms. Lee Tee Lim for taking these wonderful photos.
