Senior Boarding

Senior Girls / Senior Boys Years 11 and 12

SENIOR BOYS

As this term quickly progresses, the Year 12 boys are completing their final preparations for their Trial HSC examinations next week. As a community, we hope and pray that they will see the rewards deserved from their commitment and hard work towards their studies.

Mount Erin Boarders have always had a reputation for being supportive, caring and protective of their fellow boarders. These traits have again been apparent as these exams approach, with members of the Boarding House rallying to support the Year  12 students.

It has been pleasing to see the 11 boys also working well to advance their studies. All boarders are being encouraged to use the online tutoring service provided each night, with boys utilising this resource universally proclaiming its benefits.

Congratulations to members of the Mater Dei Catholic College First XI (Lachlan Murray, Ethan Watt and Matt Mitchell) for winning the Creed Shield Soccer Grand Final. In particular, well done to Ethan Watt who scored a brilliant individual goal that proved the difference between the teams. Ethan was awarded the Brian Thomas Medal for Player of the Creed Shield Tournament.

Well done and best wishes to Bodean Tereva, who has been selected to represent Kildare Catholic College in their Hardy Shield Rugby League team in the upcoming tournament.

In the absence of external activities and excursions, the senior boys have enjoyed spending time together exercising and playing games on campus.

SENIOR GIRLS

The Year 11 and 12 girls have all been studying hard for their upcoming HSC Trial and End of Preliminary Course examinations.

Some of the Year 11 girls are utilising the activity session in the afternoon to get some fresh air and  play a friendly game of Netball.

Other students are keeping active by working out in the common rooms.  I encourage them to continue to seek this balance in their day during such a bus time of the school year.

We have had three birthdays this fortnight; Shakira Candy, Kayla Smit and Matilda McCrone, with Shakira receiving a lovely bouquet of chocolates.

I would like to share the following reflections of two of the girls who are new to Mount Erin this year with our Boarding families:

We came to Mount Erin Boarding this year as new students in Year 11, after both receiving the opportunity to attend the Wagga Catholic Colleges.  Although we are both attending different schools, Kildare (Ellah) and Mater Dei (Molly), we quickly formed a friendship,  settled in quickly and have made lots of new friends.

We love attending activities and playing basketball in the afternoons with Mr. Siegwalt. We also have loved time spent  with Mrs Tassell and will be sad to see her leave Mount Erin. Everyone has made it feel like home especially our boarding supervisor Mrs Bradford and all the other staff.
