Principal's Notes

29th April 2022

Dear Parents and Families,

We have continued to have positive Covid tests for students this week and we wish all our students and families a speedy recovery. Please keep testing twice a week and if your child is showing any symptoms in between times. We will be sending more rapids tests home today.

It has been a very busy week for all the Year 3 and 5 students, as they have completed all four NAPLAN tests. We do have students completing online and paper catch-ups next week if they have been absent. The completed writing tests will be sent off next week after all Year 3s have completed their test. A big thank you to Miss Thompson for coordinating these assessments. It has definitely been a bigger task this year!

Redgum Festival fundraising

As we have previously said, congratulations to everyone involved in the fundraising efforts. Our wonderful Parents Club made $2,437.00 from the day.  An amazing effort everyone!

Division Athletics

Hughie, Addison and Ctayah competed in Warrnambool at the Division Athletics on Monday.  Hughie and Addison competed in the shotput and both came 9th in their age group.  Ctayah competed in the relay event with some Dunkeld and Tarrington school students and their team came 4th. Well done and thank you to the families who drove down and back on the day.

Mother's Day

I hope all our Mothers enjoyed their special day and gifts. Mrs McNaughton and Mrs Brabham had lots of fun helping the students make some very delicious looking rum balls as a tasty treat for all our Mums.

Lions Club Donation

We have recently received a very generous donation from the Cavendish Lions Club of $500. We have decided to put this donation towards purchasing a new TV screen for Miss Thompson's classroom. We will then move the older screen into the Music room for Mrs Huf to use. A very big thank you to the Lions Club and all their members for their on-going support of our school.  Please make sure you return the favour and help out at the next  Lions Club paper truck loading!

Hamilton Eisteddfod

Mrs Huf has booked the students into to do a choral performance and instrumental at the Hamilton Eisteddfod on Thursday 9th June.  We are looking at having the students bussed in and back to school on the day.  A permission note will be sent home today.

Students will need to be in their official uniform for this event.  Please contact Callie Leese as soon as possible if your child requires any uniform.

Scholastic Book Fair

Next week, the school are hosting the Scholastic Book Fair to celebrate our love of reading here at Cavendish Primary School. Tammy collected 15 boxes of books from the Post office in Hamilton this week. The students will have a chance to view the huge amount of books on display and make a wish list before making purchases on Thursday 19th May.  Families are welcome to view the books next week.  They will be on display in the library area.

National Walk To School Day

Next Friday 20th May, all students will be participating in the Walk To School Program by completing a morning walk for our fitness activity straight after assembly. We will then have some school provided fresh fruit to celebrate this day.

Cross Couuntry at Tarrington

Best wishes to our Cross County runners for next Monday at Tarrington. Mrs Brabham will be the supervising teacher at Tarrington for this event.  The students involved are Emma Thomas, Indi Keymer-Newley, Sam Packman, Thomas Hurley, Nate Weilbaecher, Lexi Thomas, Ctayah Roberts, Noah Weilbaecher, Jack Quinn and Justin Coates.  Results will be posted in next week's newsletter.  Best of luck!

Have a lovely weekend,
