Young Peterborough Team See Fast 5 Success

Reaching the semi-finals at the Southern Flinders "Fast 5" Netball tournament on Thursday, the young Peterborough side reaching a final was one of three teams entered by the school to compete in Gladstone.

The three teams, consisting of year 9 and year 10 students, were pitted against teams from the various Booleroo, Orroroo, Gladstone and Jamestown high schools in a fast paced, action packed tourney.

Coach Dean Graefe was enthusiastic in his direction and praise to the PHS 1 semi-final making team- both on court and off - which consisted of year 9 players Ebony, Levi, Brodie, Davina and Lachlan.

The PHS 1 team fought valiantly in the semi but were outpaced by eventual grand final winner Orroroo.

Peterborough can expect greater success next year as the PHS 1 team was a bottom age team – another year of growth will surely help – and should be happy in their efforts against a team which won the carnival.

Throughout the day all players on each three teams ducked, weaved, jumped and most of all committed to teamwork and effort throughout the carnival, and carnival was an enjoyable outing for student and teacher alike.

A big thanks to Alicia, Joel and Cameron who volunteered their time and umpired over the day, with young Cameron also filling in, and Esther McCann for organising the outing for Peterborough.
