Olympic Change Maker Award Program

Let's celebrate! These two Year 12's, Eli H and Jaxon K have been nominated for the 2020 Australian Olympic Change Maker Program! On Friday, they got to attend the Online Forum hosted by Brooke Hanson.

They have both submitted videos to Olympic Change Maker National Summit to be help in December 2020. We wish them all the best with their nominations.

Open Basketball

The Open Girls and Open Boys went to Whyalla in Week 8 to compete in the round 1 competition. Both teams played Whyalla and Port Augusta schools including Caritas, Eyre and Samaritan. The boys came away with a win and unfortunately did not make finals. The girls are determined to come back next year to double each of their scores.

Year 7 Transition

Next week on Wednesday, we are excited to have the Year 7's up here at PHS for their first day of Transition. Year 7's already have had regular check-ins with myself and Miss McCann over the year and term. The Year 8 SRC Members went to visit each school for a Question and Answer session. We are also looking forward to having them in Term 4 of Week 9, Monday and Tuesday. They also get to be a part of PHS Proud Week. Stay tuned for more details.

Attendance Letters

Attendance letters are making their way home as of today.

This letter is to:

  • Keep you informed on your child's attendance progress
  • Commence strategies to increase their attendance
  • Ask you to update their mentor teacher or home group teacher on your child absences.

Please action these letters as required.

Brightpath

This year, we continued our journey with Brightpath while also adding to the narrative text genre, persuasive text. The Year 8 students grew in narrative writing an effect size of 0.97. Year 9 students in narrative writing grew an effect of 0.60 in 2020. The Year 10 students grew in narrative writing an effect size of 1.38. Anything over 0.40 of an effect size means it has had considerable positive impact on learning. Year 8 and 9 persuasive writing are yet to be calculated, but what an effect we have had!
