Orchard to Plate
Firstly a big thank you to Sarat Jilla, mother of Arnav from 2BD, who was successful in receiving a grant of $1500 for the Orchard to plate program. Sarat took the time to apply for the ‘Metro Cares Community Grant’ on the schools behalf and we have utilised the funds to purchase more resources to use within the Orchard to Plate classes.
The share table has been a great success over the past week, with all the fruit and veggies going quickly. I am topping up the tables on Monday afternoons and Thursday morning, so please make sure if you missed out to try again at these times.
With Mother's day fast approaching, we have had a lovely donation from Kirsten MacKenzie and Randall Wee, parents of Sebastian 3/4DW. The family have been growing pansies and petunias within their greenhouse at home, and have over 500 to 600 small plants to give to families for Mother's Day.
These will be placed on the share table from Monday next week for families to collect when out exercising. As the share table is available to the community, (for those in the know) we will place a number of these plants just outside the front office door. This will allow for families of the school to collect theirs if there are none left on the share table. Thanks so much to Randall, Kirsten and Sebastian, a pop of colour is what everyone needs at the moment.
We were also lucky to have Taleb and Rick assemble our new storage shed for the Orchard to Plate program.
On a final note, I am very much enjoying all the photos and videos of you all cooking. It puts the biggest smile on my face, it really does make my job so rewarding.
Keep up the great work!
Dianne
