School Swimming Sports

Starting the school year off with a splash

Term 1 has been an exciting and busy start to the year in the world of Sport at University High School!

We began the term with our School Swimming Sports – the first day back for most students! It was great to see so many people participating and cheering on their sub schools.

With the introduction of a new ‘novelty’ trophy, here are the final results from the carnival:

Congratulations to all students on their efforts throughout the day and a big thank you to all staff that played a role in supporting a very successful swimming carnival this year.

We then quickly moved into our Senior and Intermediate Sport days, fielding many teams including:

  • Intermediate Boys & Girls Volleyball
  • Intermediate Boys & Girls Tennis
  • Intermediate Boys Baseball
  • Intermediate Boys & Girls Cricket
  • Senior Boys Cricket
  • Senior Boys & Girls Volleyball
  • Senior Boys Tennis

It is great to see such enthusiasm and sportsmanship from our students in their chosen sports, with each sports day being a positive and enjoyable day for all involved.

On Tuesday 2nd of March, 33 students ventured out to Fitzroy Pools to compete in the Inner North Division Swimming competition after making qualifications from our school swimming carnival. All students did a fantastic job, putting in a huge effort across the day, particularly when having to compete in all the individual events plus the 2 relay team events.

Overall, it was hugely successful day from every student that was involved, and we look forward to seeing what they can do at the Regional Swimming competition on the 24th of March.

Thursday 4th of March took us to the first Year 8 Sports day of the year. With a great turnout from students we were able to enter a number of teams across all sports, to ensure everyone got a good chance to compete through the day. It was particularly great to see students using this opportunity to try out new sports they had never played before!

Congratulations to the following teams who have progressed to Regionals:

  • Senior Boys & Girls Volleyball
  • Senior Girls Volleyball
  • Senior Boys Tennis
  • Year 8 Boys Tennis
  • Year 8 Boys Baseball
