Year 7 Camp
Gundiwindi Lodge
The first few weeks of Term 1 have seen three of the four sub-schools attend the traditional Year 7 Camp at Gundiwindi Lodge in Wandin. The serene and picturesque surroundings in the Dandenong Ranges, have been an ideal setting for each Year 7 sub-school cohort to come together.
Students coming to Uni High are from a variety of primary schools, giving them the opportunity to get to know new people and make new friends. It has also been an opportunity for staff - sub-school coordinators and other teachers alike - to establish a rapport with their students and see a different side to their personalities.
In participating in a variety of activities, students were challenged to: go beyond their comfort zone on the giant swing and flying fox; work together building huts and on the low ropes course; and try new things such as archery and making damper.
Having returned home with many positive memories between all those who have attended, as usual, we thank Danny and Tracy Alderman for hosting us all once again and making these experiences possible for all our new students.
