Ethnic Minority Early Identification & Development (EMEID) Program

Grow Your Leadership Skills

By Maripaz Berlin, OGEA President

Interested in learning more about unionism and leadership in OGEA and in CTA? I am an alum of CTA's EMEID Program, an enriching program about leadership in CTA. The program introduces you, a CTA member, to all different facets of union work in CTA, enabling you to attend various trainings, conferences, and gatherings, such as State Council and Summer Institute!

The Ethnic Minority Early Identification and Development Program identifies CTA members of color who are interested in expanding their roles in CTA. EMEID’s goal is to increase the number of CTA leaders of color in roles such as President, Bargaining Chair, State Council Rep, Service Center Council Chair and Officers, and any other respected leadership role/position. Once identified and accepted into the program, participants are paired with a coach who assists them in defining goals and identifying appropriate steps to achieve those goals.
