2022 SPORTS STAR MONTHLY PROFILE – JANUARY
Nathan Argiro (Alumni) – Clay Target Shooting
Nathan Argiro was selected as the 2022 Community Bank Merbein and District 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year for the month of January. Nathan was nominated by the Mildura Clay Target Club.
In January, Nathan took part in the Commonwealth and National ISSF championships in Echuca, where he emerged victorious in the Men's Open National Trap event to become Mildura's first ISSF Trap National Champion. He advanced to the semi-final stage of the Commonwealth event, and two days later, Nathan secured the National title against a field of world-class competitors. Nathan performed well in the qualifiers. In the final, he scored 34/40 which led to a sudden death shoot-off which he won after five targets.
In April, Nathan captained the State DTL team to a victory at the ACTA DTL Nationals, one of only a handful of Victorian victories. Nathan spent eight weeks in 2022 competing at the ISSF World Cup in Italy, South Korea, and the ISSF World Champhionship in Croatia. Nathan placed in the top 20 three times at International events, cementing himself in the top five of Australia's best ISSF trap shooters and is now in the High Performance Squad at Shooting Australia.
