YEAR 8 ELECTIVE - RETRO METAL

Students have enamelled their copper bowls and then moved on to silver soldering a basic ring. They then had the opportunity to add decorative elements to it to add interest. The students managed the dangers associated with the equipment with much maturity, in fact they loved the responsibility. It was great to see the students feeling so much pride in being able to make their rings to a very fine finish. 

YEAR 8 ELECTIVE - MAKE IT WITH TIMBER

Students have laminated pieces of recycled timber together to make a board large enough to cut a chopping board from. They planed the surface and safely learnt how to use a jigsaw to cut the shape. The students have designed interesting shapes, and some have used the laser cutter to add interest to the surface. 

YEAR 10 PRODUCT DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY

The wood students have almost finished the production of their cabinet and are moving on to the surface finish, as the semester is nearing its end. The metal students are putting the finishing touches to their weathervanes that incorporated the use of the MIG-welder and the lathe. There are lots of very motivated students working hard to ensure their products are beautifully finished before the exams start.
