Term 3 week 8
Book Week and Creepy Crawlies
Book week was wonderful. We love book week and amongst all the other great activities we set the children a challenge to see how many books they could read between them!
We had our breakout room set up as a peaceful sanctuary in the mornings and we also had our book week play area as reading spaces and the children really embraced the reading task…….
We did have an incentive
If they managed to read 100 books between them we would purchase $200 of new books for our After School Care library !!!!
….. and they did it - Well done superstar readers
They children were all really been engaged with the whole program, embracing the Library dramatic play and the dress ups on Thursday were fabulous even the staff were fantastic !
This weeks theme was "Creepy Crawlies" as the kids have really loved exploring with the magnifying glasses and we thought it could be a really nice way to extend the Very Hungry Caterpillar cooking activity from book week
Some of the activities we enjoyed this week included : In Arts & Crafts
Recycled Insects, the Bug Hunt, our Entomology Lab, Fireflies in a Jar and Chocolate Spiders & Butterfly Prints. In our Thursday: Let’s Get Active yesterday we played Bug Movement Cubes & Bug Races and the Bee Pollen Transfer Relay. Today as we rest and reflect we have made some spider web weaving and made spiders out of play dough.
Another really big THANK YOU to the wonderful Bolton family ! Eddie and Gus have donated a whole collection of cars and trucks and accessories which all the children are really enjoying X

We have some really exciting days planned with four excursion days including a live theatre show and a mega excursion to the city for an MCG tour and visit to the sports museum in time for footy day !!!
