Principal’s Message

The start of Advent has been such a positive time in our school community.  We are meeting every morning as a school community and starting with an Advent reflection and prayer.  We are also having a special Advent raffle every day, with students receiving raffle tickets for the ‘one percenters’.  A one percenter is a small gesture of kindness or positivity that improves our school community.  Making Jesus Real creator Peter Mitchell spoke to students about the differences one percenters can make in the life of a school.  One other thing we have been doing every morning is interviewing one of our Grade 6 students.  They have been sharing their experiences of the school, their favourite memories, and a message to younger students.  For example, Samson Coates shared one of his favourite quotes ‘Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light’ (Dumbledore – Harry Potter).

A big welcome to Andrea Comino and Bridget Henwood who have commenced employment at the school.  Their job is to plan and implement our school lunches program, commencing in the first half of 2023.  Read more about Andrea and Bridget in this newsletter.

I encourage families to complete our 2023 Family Survey. Every year we survey parents about their experience at John Paul II Catholic School.  This really helps our planning for future years and allows us to create the best possible school environment.  Thank you in advance for filling out the 2023 Family Survey.
