Last week Kinder went to the Marine Discovery Centre in Woodbridge.

We had the opportunity to explore and look for different creatures in the touch pool and viewing tanks. We had to find all the creatures on our checklist.

In the viewing tank was a spotty dog shark that we could pat! We also got to feed the different fish. The puffer fish was very hungry and the salmon splashed us with its tail. There was also a couple of friendly stingrays.

There was a touch tank where we could touch and hold different creatures. Lots of us were brave enough to hold a starfish, some of us were brave enough to hold a sea cucumber and even some very, very big hermit crabs and sea urchins. We then got to design our own little aquarium. We had to think about what things we needed to include that the creatures might need to survive.

Lastly, we went down to the rocks to see what animals we could find in their natural habitat. We found lots of crabs hiding under the rocks, as well as shells and sea glass. It was  a great learning day!
