Primary

Primary classes have been busy working hard in their classrooms. We have had our 2021 kindergarten students Piper and Malakai transitioning in Class 5. They are enjoying their visits and we look forward to them being a part of our school next year.

Teddy our school therapy dog is making all the students and staff very happy.

The weather has been great for class outings and each class is making the most of this.

This term each primary class will participate in sailing at Lake Canobolas. This week Class 9 enjoyed this opportunity.

Classes have been having fun in pottery with Mr Windsor each Thursday. They are making some amazing creations!

Today all the primary classes are participating in a range of Naidoc activities. These include art, dance, indigenous games and storytelling. There is a special taste testing this afternoon.

Stage 4

Stage 4 students have been busy learning in all Key Learning Areas.

This term we are loving our new Mathematics groups. We are learning about the history of money, where it is made and how it makes its way to the bank. We are also shopping from a catalogue and selecting the right amount of money to purchase our selections.

Stage 4 have also been learning all about plants in Science this term. We have studied the requirements for growth as well as looking at plant structures and their functions.

Class 3 and others have been working hard with Mr Gell and Mr Novak to grow different types of plants in the school’s greenhouse. Students have really enjoyed getting their hands dirty and watching their seeds begin to sprout.

Stage 5

Stage 5 students have enjoyed participating in a variety of engaging NAIDOC week activities to expand and share our knowledge. We have been enjoying research activities and learning about the History of Indigenous Australian's who have positively contributed and promoted Aboriginal Culture. Students are working on a presentation to share their research.

On Wednesday stage 5 participated in Indigenous games with the assistance of staff from the Clontarf Program. This was a great success in engaging students to participate in a variety of Indigenous games.

Damper Cook-Off

On Thursday stage 5 classes joined together to celebrate NAIDOC week in our schools

Bush Tucker garden for a Damper Cook-Off. Thank you to our special guest judges Mrs Pritchard and Mr Leonard.

The winner was Class 7.

Stage 6

Our year 12 students have been busy working across the school, planting a butterfly garden and upgrading the sensory playground. Karen and Shaun have been busy helping staff with admin tasks, and Graduation planning is in full swing. They have been enjoying visiting local communities as part of their postcards program and this week visited Molong.

Stage 6 ran a working bee in the Bush Tucker Garden this week where they weeded and planted some new bush tucker to support our Aboriginal Education programs. Keep an eye on Facebook for episode 2 of Anson Updates, featuring our year 11 students providing updates on events happening around the school, birthday shout outs and PBL expectations.

Voting will take place in the coming weeks for 2021 school leaders. The candidates have worked hard on their speeches and we wish them all the best of luck.
