From the Principal

Wow! Here we are half way through the term. After what seemed like the longest term ever in Term 3, this term is flying by very quickly. This week is jammed pack full of events including NAIDOC week activities, Remembrance Day on Wednesday and Friday is World Kindness Day (and my grandson’s first birthday 😍).

This term we are evaluating our school plan which has been in place for the last three years. Last week the staff spent a few hours after work reflecting on what we have achieved since 2018 and what we should focus on for the new Strategic Improvement Plan, which will guide us for the next four years. We invite our school community to be involved in this evaluation through a survey which will be sent out this week and zoom forums which will be held next week to capture your thoughts about what we can do to focus on student growth and learning.

Looking forward, we will be having online assemblies, teachers will be starting to put together reports and end of year events such as presentation day and graduation for Year 12 will occur. Before we know it we will be preparing for Christmas and singing carols.

As the weather gets warmer, please remember to ensure that your child has sunscreen on and brings a hat and water bottle. Staff will reapply sunscreen at school. We have gradually increased shade across the school and have recently added lush grass on the Campus site for students to enjoy during breaks.

Year 12 students Shaun and Karen have been doing exceptionally well with Mrs Edwina Brennan learning administration skills and our Skills House program kicks off this week with Mrs (Toot) Keegan teaching everyday skills such as ironing, washing, mending, making a bed and folding - all skills that I’m sure families will benefit from.

The PBL team is encouraging students to be respectful, safe and responsible at school with students able to collect tokens and redeem at the Shake Bar on Friday afternoons. A prize for students with 100% attendance will also be available at Presentation Day. Attendance matters and we are focused on ensuring that everyone is engaged and learning when they attend school.

Activities are starting to open up and it is wonderful seeing classes enjoying different sites around Orange and learning socialising in the community and transport skills.

Enjoy the beautiful weather.
