State Athletics Championships

On Monday the 17th of October, a group of eight TCC students travelled to the Albert Park athletics centre in Melbourne to compete in the state athletics after they won their events at regionals in Ballarat.

Those students were Jess Dellar (Javelin), Ryan McAlinden (Javelin), Alexis Phillips (Discus), Cooper Harty (High Jump), Tyler Loricco (Long Jump), Will McLachlan (High Jump and Long Jump), Tom Frampton (400m and 800m), and Chloe Copeland (Shot Put).

Thankfully the Melbourne weather turned it on, making for perfect conditions in all events. All students competed very hard against a very high state-level standard and showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day.

A special mention to Chloe Copeland who took home our only medal for the day, finishing third in the 18y/o Girls Shot Put event, which is a fantastic achievement.

Tom Frampton also achieved two Personal Bests in his 400m and 800m events, without finishing on the podium, proving how high the standard of athletes was for the whole day.

All eight students who competed should be extremely proud of themselves for making it to the State Finals. It is an excellent achievement and the entire TCC community is very proud. Congratulations to all.
