Netball Club

Welcome back to Netball for our Winter Season!

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge on behalf of our Wembley Netball Family the amazing committee members that have finally decided after many years of making netball for our kids possible, to hang up their bibs.

Please help me in thanking:

Mimma De Luca – President & Administrator

(Not to mention Team manager/Assistant coach)

Mother of Alexandra, the heart of our club, always there whenever we need her. Mimma has been our president for the past 5 years and has done an amazing job of everything netball. She has supported all of us through registrations, committee meetings, communications from Altona stadium – ensuring we are well informed and well equipped to take on each season. Always positive and willing to assist with her phenomenal knowledge of how everything operates. Mimma thank you so much for all of your tireless, selfless and amazing efforts for our little club – we could not have done it without you.

However, Mimma cannot seem to get enough of our club and has very generously offered to become Treasurer this season.

Michelle Scothern - Uniform Co-ordinator

Mother of Hannah. Thank you, Michelle, for all of your amazing organisation, ensuring that all kids were kitted out for their very first season, to all of the additional seasons with new or second-hand uniforms and also housing them! For keeping us warm in winter with the awesome hoodies. Also, for making sure that each new team received a fresh new coaches’ bag complete with balls, cones, bibs, etc, so that our new team coaches were well equipped to begin training their teams. Many thanks for your stellar efforts.

Steph Speedie – Umpire Co-ordinator

Mother of Riley and Mya. Since 2018, Steph you have been an amazing organiser of all the umpires needed to ensure that our kids could play each week. This is no easy feat however you have been so accommodating and have set up a system that keeps the smooth running of all of our games and a nice bank of umpires to choose from. We thank you very much.

Committee for 2023 Winter Season:

As our club is a volunteer-based club, we have had some parents put their hand up to take on these roles this season, please welcome:

Cath Ryan-Dwyer - Uniform Co-ordinator

Mother of Eleanor, Annabelle and Will. Cath already coaches 2 of our Wembley teams and is an advocate for all kids to play and enjoy netball – not to mention my partner on Fridays for training with our two teams – an all-round amazing human.

Stephanie Dow – Umpire Co-ordinator

Mother of Alana and Zoe, Steph has very generously taken on the role of umpire co-ordinator and will do an amazing job. I know she is well organised, as she coordinates our adult Wembley mums’ netball team on a Monday night – if anyone can do that with all of our injuries – its Steph! And always done with a big smile.

Helen Harris – President & Administrator

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Hels mother of Ethan and Mia. I love all things netball and coaching my gorgeous Wembley Willows. I hope that I can somewhat fill the shoes of Mimma, she is amazing, I have so much respect for her and have a lot to learn. Looking forward to continuing on this amazing club and ensuring our kids have as much fun as possible!

Also, we would like to thank our coaches and team managers that have volunteered this season. Without your dedication and support we would not have a club. A warm welcome to our newest under 9s team the Wasps and to our newly formed Under 17s team the Whippets.
