Vote 1: ISV Short Film Competition

Jemima Matheson (11 Frew)  who studied ICT 3/4 this year made a short film “Over The Bridge” starring Woaliba Hadi (11 Frew) and received an award at the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Film Festival in February.

Jemima who scripted, directed, shot and edited the film went on to enter it into the Independent Schools Victoria Student Film Festival 2020; a major month-long celebration of the creative talents of student filmmakers in Victoria.

The film has been selected by a panel of Judges from over 80 entrants as a finalist for the Year 11 category.

Here’s what judges said:

“Three things stood out for me with this film. One was the use of no dialogue, taking filmmaking back to its silent origins of just moving pictures to tell the story. The second was the use of humour and third the way this was used to explore the theme of a girl facing her fears. Overall, the filmmaker has made a really powerful message but done it through humour. It’s a really great example of how to use media to make a statement and to do it in such an entertaining way.”

“Over The Bridge” is now screening online.
