Annie from Year 2 who has been Irish dancing for only 1.5 years was selected by her dancing school, The Academy, after only a year of dancing to compete in both the WA State Championship as well as the Australian Nationals. Annie competed in the 2023 Irish Dancing Fies competitions, with the first being in early March and danced in 4 categories. She had an incredible start coming 2nd place in two dances and 1st place in the other two dances. Her parents are incredibly proud of her commitment and passion and St Helena's congratulates her on her amazing achievements!

Hayden from Year 6 recently competed in the Surf Club State Championships. He received a silver medal in his swim team event. Earlier this year at Club Championships he received a bronze medal in the flag event. He was also awarded the Nipper of the Year for year group with his club Scarboro. Congratulations Hayden on your wonderful achievements.

Katie from Year 5 was named a finalist in the Western Australian Scout of the Year Award which was held on 19 February. This award is designed to recognise a youth who has given exceptional service to Scouting and the community. It is presented each year to recognise & congratulate those youth members within Scouting who go above and beyond & make a difference in their community.

Katie was selected as an Award Finalist as she “has made significant contributions to the conservation of the Western Swamp Tortoise, one of Australia’s most endangered reptiles. Through her environmental project “Helping the Western Swamp Tortoise,” Katie has volunteered with the Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise, planted trees, and educated her Cub Scout Unit about the importance of protecting the tortoise’s habitat. She has also registered a nearby bushland site as an “Adopt-A-Spot” and participated in clean-up days. Her dedication and passion for protecting endangered animals has not only positively impacted her community, but also contributed to her personal development as a self-directed and inquisitive individual.”

Congratulations Katie, you should be very proud of what you have achieved!
