Religious Education & Faith Life
Palm Sunday
On Palm Sunday, Christians remember the day Jesus rode into the city of Jerusalem. As Jesus entered the city, people greeted him by waving palm branches and calling out Hosanna.
Every Palm Sunday, Catholics bless palms at Mass and take them home to remember that day.
Holy Thursday
On Holy Thursday, Christians remember the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples.
During the Last Supper Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to teach them to show love for others.
Good Friday
On Good Friday, Christians remember that Jesus suffered and was made to carry his cross up the hill where he was nailed to it.
On Good Friday, the Church gathers to kneel at the cross of Jesus to pay honour to it. The Cross is inseparable from the sacrifice of Jesus, in honouring the Cross people are honouring Jesus who died to bring new life.
Holy Saturday
On Holy Saturday, the Church waits at the Lord’s tomb, meditating on his suffering and death. The altar is left bare and Mass is not celebrated. Every Holy Saturday, the Church has a quiet day. No Masses or Sacraments are celebrated on that day. People pray quietly remembering the body in the tomb.
Join us as a school community next week as we journey through prayer the events of Holy Week at 8:30am each morning.

Last Week of Lent
(Week beginning Monday 27th March)
Last week through Project Compassion we learnt about Thu, who lives in Vietnam. When Thu was 12 years old, he stepped on an unexploded land mine and lost his leg.
Living with a disability in rural Vietnam presented many challenges for Thu, who worked mainly as a rice farmer. Thu also took on the role of caring for his wife, Linh, after she suffered a stroke.
Determined to turn their lives around, Thu and Linh joined the Empowerment of People with Disabilities program, run by Caritas Australia’s local partner in Vietnam, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD).
For Thu, the greatest impact the program has had is enabling the change in Linh’s physical and mental wellbeing. With the support of a physiotherapist, Linh can now walk short distances with the aid of a walking stick.
Watch a short film about Thu’s story here.
As we enter Holy Week next week, we continue to reflect on the lives of people vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice and how we can respond through supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion appeal.
Your generosity is the pebble that allows Caritas Australia to create the ripples that will improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, supporting them to flourish and create opportunities for future generations to live to their full potential.
Thank you!
Please return all Project Compassion boxes and envelopes to the school office by Thursday 6 April or donate online via the Caritas Australia website at www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion
