Tennis Talent

Laura Peart (Year 8) recently won the 14 girls singles at the Ballarat Regional Tournament and the IMG Discovery Open Australian Qualifying Event held at Brighton. In winning at the IMG, she was invited to play in the main draw of the IMG Discovery Open event in Bradenton, Florida in late May 2017. At this event she trained at the best facilities in the world, and compete against the qualifying winners from countries such as USA, Italy, China, Switzerland and Japan over ten days. Laura will then return to the USA in early June for twenty six days to train and compete in United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned events in California and Nevada. These tournaments will give Laura valuable international experience to further her career in the hope of obtaining a US College Scholarship and becoming a professional player on the WTA tour.

In recognition of Laura’s commitment to her injury management, rehabilitation and training, Symmetry Physiotherapy at Altona Meadows, has offered Laura a Junior Athlete Development Sponsorship.  Laura’s very appreciative of the new racquets and clothing that Symmetry Physiotherapy have supplied and she is determined to perform well in the upcoming USA tours.
