Bentley Bombers vs Centralians

ROUND 1

The first match against OLSH was an exceptional show of the amazing skill and fantastic sportspersonship our St Philip’s players have. With six less players, OLSH were well-and-truly undermanned but toiled gallantly. Every one of our players spent at least one quarter representing the opposition and performed excellently…to the point where they held our team goalless for the first time in three years.

Sazkoda starred with Nellie’s sublime athleticism giving our players first use in the middle. Issy was a workhorse who tackled ferociously, accompanied by our ever-consistent Captain, Armani. Sadie was another phenomenal contributor as we powered to a devastating victory.

SPC 14.6.90 def. OLSH 4.3.27

Best Players: Dunn, Crellin, Treloar, Jabubisz, Francois

Goals: Dunn 4, Treloar 3, Sharpe 2, Francois, Newman, Smith

ROUND 2

Our arch-rival in Centralian proved to be a solid battle for our young girls. Without a string of more senior players, we had to dig deep to compete with a bigger, more experienced Centralian team. To our credit, we tackled hard and pressured their ball-carrier in a physical battle.

Nadine rucked brilliantly and followed up with bone-jarring tackles on her bigger counterpart. Chloe provided dash and has great football smarts around the contest. Armani was outstanding and her wingwoman Sazkoda completed some incredible plays through the middle of the ground. Shivani popped up for a sneaky goal whilst Annasteene’s forward pressure was amazing to watch. Elly was a rock down back who has matured immensely in her role. We will go one better next time we play them!

SPC 7.6.48 drew with Centralian 7.6.48

Best Players: Francois, Dunn, Beresford-Murray, Newman, Green

Goals: Francois 4, Dunn, Gibson, Sharpe

Unfortunately our Round 3 contest with Yirara ended in them forfeiting but we look forward to competing against Ntaria next Thursday. We will travel out there, and if we bring back a win, that will see us playing off in a Grand Final against Centralian.

Stay amazing Bentley Bombers!
