AAFC Recruit Training Weekend

A few weeks ago, most of the 1st year cadets went on Recruit Training Weekend at RAAF Williams Pt Cook and Laverton. We all had a great time especially on the plane flight that we got to go on which was amazing. A lot of us (myself included) were scared to go on the plane since most of us hadn’t been on a small aircraft but it turned out to be so much fun and better that expected. We also learnt how to iron our uniform, shine our boots, hang up our uniform in a specific order and make our beds. One of the other highlights was getting our own rooms. This was my first cadet camp I had been on since I had only joined a few days prior to the camp but everyone was really welcoming, I had a great experience and I’m sure all the other cadets did too. Thank you to everyone who made this camp possible.

Recently the 2019Recruit Course spent the weekend on RAAF Base Williams, learning more about the AAFC and more importantly flying in the AAFC Diamond planes. One of the cadets sent in the following as part of their review of the weekend:

Thank you to all the NCO's for giving up their weekend to spend it with a bunch of noisy cadets. Thank you to the Laverton RAAF Base for lending us their buildings and for putting up with our etiquette in the mess, thank you to Corporal Slater for making drill fun and thank you to Flight l

Lieutenant Howlett for organising the entire weekend and making it so fun and giving us all these amazing once in a lifetime opportunities that were so fun and strengthened bonds between the cadets and the NCO's and basically everyone in 414. Everyone did amazingly and I'm so proud of us for getting through the weekend and doing it in style! #Girlsonbase
