The Monster in the Maze

The Performing Arts department are working hard behind the scenes to put together an operatic production of 'The Monster In the Maze' by Jonathon Dove, Libretto by Alasdair Middleton, with the aim of showcasing this performance from the 5-7 May 2022 in Gibney Hall, Trinity College.

This is an exciting, highly dramatic depiction of the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. This opera has been specifically written for a range of performers which allows us to include a wider community of performers - from junior school through to senior school, alumina performers and incredibly talented staff. This contemporary opera was written in 2014 and has been worked professionally in the classical music world with Sir Simon Rattle and Simon Halsey, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra and has been performed in the UK, France and Germany. To our knowledge, this is the first time it is being performed in Australia and lead by the incredible Dr Robert Braham.

With current COVID restrictions, we are working around the clock to safely rehearse all our cast members in small groups and piecing the show together. Tickets are due to go on sale in coming weeks.
