Year 7 Becoming Brothers Camp

The Becoming Brothers Camp was a surreal experience. My favourite moment was when we got to go rafting and the leadership games we played in the middle of Heirisson Island. Second to that was the rock climbing in the Sports Centre. We were amazed of how lucky we are to have the facilities to have our camp at the College. Thank you to Mr Carslaw, PCG staff and Year 11 mentors for helping to run the weeks activities.

Year 8s Learn Geomorphic Hazards

Year 8 students have been studying geomorphic hazards in Humanities this term, working towards an assessment for which they were to research and create a model or diorama of a geomorphic hazard event. Students were able to present their models to their teacher and classmates. The boys went above and beyond, creating exciting and intricate dioramas – some were even working models! We were treated to a show of exploding volcanoes, sliding landslides, and dropping sink holes. Well done to all Year 8 students!

Prefect Perspectives

We all love a short week!

I'm sure that many parents were sceptical about the purpose behind such a break during the pointy end of the term (as were mine). However, this is a well-deserved rest after a tough run of mid-term assessments. I'm sure that an extra two days to sit back and relax would have been beneficial to students, ensuring they were refreshed and ready for the start of this week. Hence, allowing students to study for any upcoming tests and assignments in a more comfortable manner.

Most importantly, in times like these, students are always encouraged to spend quality time with loved ones.

Unfortunately, many people in the world are not fortunate enough to be with their family. Currently, this is very apparent in Ukraine and Russia, as many innocent people are being oppressed and forced to engage in warfare, leaving their families and friends behind. Moreover, all the people that are impacted by COVID as it becomes more and more prevalent in society. Specifically, in Western Australia, there has been an influx of COVID cases recently and of course the numbers will constantly increase, at least for the foreseeable future.

So, cherish these moments, show your loved ones that you are grateful, always expressing your appreciation. It’s evident that there are various spiralling issues in the world, often causing us to question, what is most important in our lives? To many people, including myself, this is that our loved ones stay both physically and mentally healthy.

Furthermore, for all of the boys that are self-isolating, there are many anxieties that can come with balancing study and abiding by the ever-changing demands of COVID, particularly all the rules and regulations that are associated with it.

Sometimes, it is best to focus on yourself. Ultimately, self-isolation can often have a burden on how we communicate with others, handle stress and make choices. However, you're physical and mental wellbeing is priority, so try not to get caught up in the stress that comes with the unknown nature of the Pandemic. There are many staff and students willing to support you during this time. Never forget that!

A shortened day on Friday (school finishing at 12.45pm) concludes a rapid, two-and-a-half-day week. This upcoming weekend marks a Trinity bye for PSA sport, with the exception of the TC Rowing Club. I wish the best of luck to all involved in the regatta this weekend! For other students, it is a great time to get studying for the end-of-term assessments. Or, if needed, have another restful weekend, sometimes a mental refresh is most beneficial.

Always remember, be men for others, but also to yourself. Do what is best for you and be ready to smash out the rest of the term!
