The Aitken College Parents & Friends Association is a dedicated group of parents and caregivers who work together to benefit our entire school community.
The Parents & Friends Association's primary role is to foster a sense of community within the school community. This is important because children spend a significant portion of their formative years in this learning and social environment, and it is equally important for parents and caregivers to be able to encourage and share this journey.
2021 was another year of new challenges; we started the year strong with events, but due to the changing situation, we had to postpone a number of our significant fundraising and social events for the school community.
The Pre-loved Uniform Sale kicked off the year and remains a popular event on our calendar. We invited our new Aitken families’ who will join us in 2022, to the event this year. As parents, it's a great opportunity to buy high-quality secondhand items for half the price (or less) of new. With the rate at which our children grow, who doesn't love a good bargain?
We were prepared for Term 1 and Easter break with our scrumptious Hot Cross Buns. Bakers Delight in Craigieburn supplied the buns for this year's fundraising event, and they once again warmed our hearts and filled our bellies. Another annual event that the students look forward to is our annual Mother's Day stall. We enjoy seeing how happy they are when they are able to shop independently, choose a present, and calculate the change for the canteen. Even though there were many more activities for the year planned, we continued our efforts and worked with the school community to explore how the Parents and Friends might help. With the school's ongoing major development projects, 2021 provided another opportunity for the Parents and Friends Committee to give back and get involved.
We are extremely pleased to announce that the newly placed soccer goals in the newly created Dunhelen area have now been installed.
Every year, the Community Business Directory provides a chance for us to support one another by purchasing locally and supporting your business. The College's Business Directory is available on the College's website and is included in each newsletter.
There is a lot of work that goes into organising and running the various events that the Parents & Friends put on. I want to congratulate all the members and volunteers for their incredible efforts. It's all done on a volunteer basis, and the amount of time and effort that these fantastic members put in is incredible and very much appreciated. Thank you.
