From the Principal

Welcome everyone to our final newsletter of the year.

As I am sure you are all aware I will be continuing in my role as Principal for the next three years having won the tenured position. I am delighted to continue leading this school and would like to use this opportunity to say thank you to all of our community for the support, feedback and dedication to improving the educational outcomes for our students.

2021 has been a tough and challenging year with Covid closures, teacher departures etc. I have been continually impressed with our students resilience and adaptability in supporting the school during these tough times. At the end of any school year there is always some staff departures so I would like to take this opportunity to farewell our departing staff:

• Douglas Fraser - Ended his tenure at the end of term 1 and is currently doing TRT work in Adelaide
• Kaitlyn Havers - Has resigned her position at PHS to pursue vacancies closer to home.
• Cenise McDonald - Has secured a permanent ongoing position at Port Augusta Secondary School.
• Vincent Vella - Has secured a 2022 contract position at Port Augusta Secondary School.
• Sonja Mercer - Has won a leadership position at Willunga High School
• Kerry Thomas - Contract has ended
• Leonie Thomson - Contract has ended

Ros Francis will not be returning in Term 1 as she continues on Long Service Leave. Esther McCann will also not be returning until 2023 as she is taking a year off to pursue travel and adventure.

New staff will be joining us next year:

• Shirley Dearlove - Classroom Support (contract)
• Scott Cullen - Teacher (PE, English)
• Tina Wu - Teacher (Science/Maths)
• Zac Boxall - Teacher (English)
• Mary Gazzola - Teacher (Art)
• Joycie Kee - Teacher (Music)

We look forward to welcoming all of them in 2022.

Finally we have a number of staff who have won Permanent positions in 2022:

• Tracy Challens-  (SSO In Class Support & Intervention)
• Steven Lovegrove - (SSO - IT)
• Sarah Mercer - (SSO Admin/Executive Secretary)
• Leona He - Teacher (Science/Maths)
• Brittany Dunchue - Teacher (English/Psychology)
• Tarni Reeves - Teacher (Technologies)

Many of leadership positions were also up for renewal this year and the appointments were as follows:

• Steven Barclay - Principal - 2022 - 2025
• Jenny Coe - Deputy Principal - 2022-2025
• Cody Bruce - Middle Years Coordinator - 2022-2025
• Anna Simon - Senior Years Coordinator - 2022-2027 (Replacing Sonja Mercer)
• Brittany Dunchue - Student Wellbeing Leader - 2022 (Replacing Esther McCann
