Student Representatives

Sydney Cross Country Primary Championships

It was wonderful to see so many of our students represent St Patrick’s at the Sydney Catholic Primary School Championships held at Sydney Motor Sports Park. This is a very well organised event by Sydney Catholic Schools with thousands of students across the 4 conferences racing the track. We were blessed with nice weather as we watched our St Patrick’s students give it their all to the finish line. We have 6 students who qualified for the MacKillop Cross Country Trials held on Tuesday 13th June. Good-luck to Sophie A, Charli M, Francesca P, Emily B, Noah VD and Chloe W for this event.

If you could kindly return your representative jersey or singlet to the school office as we will need these for the many upcoming sporting events still to be held this term.

NSWPSSA Touch

Charli M recently competed at the NSWPSSA Touch Tournament as a MacKillop team member. The MacKillop team won the competition, going through the tournament undefeated. Charli was also named in the NSW side and will head to Darwin in August. She was one of five girls from the MacKillop team to make the NSW squad. This is incredible news!

MacKillop Soccer Trials

Sophie A took to the field to showcase her football (soccer) skills last week. Sophie was successful in being selected for the MacKillop Girls Soccer team to compete at the NSWPSSA Football, heading to Nelson’s Bay in August. We are so proud of you Sophie A.

AFL Paul Kelly Cup - Year 5 & 6

The AFL Paul Kelly Cup Gala Day will be held next Wednesday 7th June. The draw has been released and will be shared with parents via COMPASS. AFL highly enjoyed coming to our school this week to teach the attending students some skills and to answer any questions. If your child missed this session, they are still encouraged to attend the gala day next week. The session was not mandatory in order to partake in this fun day. AFL were kind enough to offer this free session. I will meet with all students to sort their teams tomorrow and discuss the correct uniform to wear.

St Patrick’s Games

The sun was shining on Tuesday for our Infants St Patrick’s Games morning! The students were beautifully behaved and all smiles as they showed us their athletic prowess and sportsmanship. The staff of St Patrick's were wonderful in their enthusiasm and support to help the day run smoothly for the students. Huge thanks to our Year 6 students who showed great leadership while helping run the activities and assisting teachers throughout the event.

Thank you, Parents, for your willingness to support our school event and make it a very special occasion for the students.

Annual School Athletics Carnival

Our annual school Athletic Carnival will be held at The Ridge Sporting Complex next  Monday, 5th June for Years 2-6. We look forward to an eventful day where students can showcase their talents and enjoy the atmosphere amongst their friends and teachers. We hope to see many of our parents come along to enjoy this community event.

All remaining students need to be at school by 8:30am to ensure we are ready to board buses in time for the school bell.

Could all parents helpers find one of our friendly staff at the finish line for a briefing. If your situation has changed and you can assist, even for short period of time please let us know when you arrive.

Interschool Sport

Term 2 Year 6 Football (soccer)

The first part of our interschool Football has ended for most of our year 6 students. However we are pleased to have our Level 1 Boys and Girls team qualify for the interconference championships because we topped the ladder for the Sutherland Network. This will be held on Tuesday 20th June.

Our teams will play the team who topped their ladder from the St George Network. Students will then play in ranked pool games against retrospective ranked teams from Conference 4. The champions from each conference will play off against each other to determine the Interconference 3/4 representative at the Sydney Winter Championship. The Level 1 teams will shortly receive a COMPASS event detailing this information.

Year 4 Interschool Football (Soccer) Gala Day

With all of Year 4 heading to the Interschool Football (soccer) gala day on Tuesday 27th June we have 4 girls and 4 boys teams ready to take to the field. We hope to see parents come along to support this Sydney Catholic Schools initiative. Teams will be placed in pools to play against other schools in a safe and fun environment. There will be no progressions to finals. Teachers will go through the Sydney Catholic Schools code of conduct to ensure all students understand behavioural expectations. This is the same code of conduct parents must adhere to at all times. We look forward to another fun sporting event. These are the items students will need for the gala day which is outlined in the note on COMPASS.

Unified All Abilities Day

Sydney Catholic Schools is continuing to provide new and exciting opportunities in sport for Students with Disability through the Unified All Abilities Multi Sport Days.

The Unified All Abilities Multi Sport Days give students the opportunity to try a range of sports. During this day, individuals with and without a disability share the empowerment that comes with engaging in sport. Aimed at primary students aged 8-13 years with intellectual, social-emotional, sensory and physical disabilities, the days are an opportunity to have a go in a fun and inclusive environment. The unified program allows students to bring a buddy from their school to help them learn new skills and give them the confidence to participate and compete against other students.

These days are designed to:

  • promote social inclusion
  • provide students with a sense of connectedness
  • build a sense of self
  • encourage ‘giving it a go’
  • foster a love of the game.

The day involves:

  • learning more about AFL and Football (Soccer)
  • access to specialised coaching and adaptive equipment
  • opportunities to network with students and teachers from other schools
  • competing in games against other students.

Benefits of attending the day include:

  • building social wellbeing and friendships
  • strengthening balance, coordination and mobility skills
  • working as part of a team, collaborating and planning
  • increased self-esteem through a sense of achievement.

This day will be held on Tues 27 June (Week 10) at Majors Bay Reserve, Concord. If you are interested in your child attending this event, please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au and a paper registration form will be sent home with your child. Please fill this out and return it to school at your earliest convenience.
