MNSEC Sports

On a cold and windy Thursday (11/8), a group of the yr 7 and 8 students travelled to Booleroo Centre District School to compete in the 7/8 MNSEC 5-Aside Soccer Competition.

We arrived amongst several other schools from the area and got a quick warm-up in before their first game. Despite some initial nerves, the team gained some much-needed confidence with an early goal against Jamestown.

In a high scoring game, they were able to edge out a 2-goal win. Several close games followed against Gladstone, Orroroo and Booleroo.

In the last game (against Jamestown’s second team), Callan and Andy put on a goal scoring clinic to secure a strong win.

As the students enjoyed the lunch break and a chance to socialise with students from the other schools, we found out we had just edged into the finals and would be competing against Gladstone.

Despite a strong showing from our students, they couldn’t overcome their opposition (who went on to be the champions of the day).

All seven students tried their absolute hardest, showed great sportsmanship throughout the competition, and appeared to have a great day.

Well done to: Andy, Kiersten, Bridie, Jacob, Mckayla, Issac and Callan.
