Advent
We are celebrating Advent as we lead into the Christmas season. Advent simply means “coming” and for Christians this is traditionally the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day. Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of Jesus. Emmanuel (“God with us”) is often used to describe the one who is prophesized to come in Jesus. Many families will have an Advent calendar in which they count down the days from 1 December to Christmas Day (25 December).
Each week in Advent has a candle and theme: Hope (purple), Peace (purple), Joy (pink), Love (purple) and Christmas Day (white). Parents/Carers are welcome to attend any Chapel service and assembly that their child is present at.
CommUnity Morning Tea
Parents/Carers are invited for morning tea on 24 November from 8:45 - 9:30am in the CPA foyer. This is an opportunity to link in with your broader community by meeting other families and staff from the Chaplaincy and Wellbeing teams.
Reach Out Community (ROC)
Reach Out Community has celebrated its first event in a while with a recent picnic and Pet Blessing. You are invited to join us for our next ROC event on 1 December at 6pm which will be Christmas Carols and a BYO picnic.
The Giving Tree
As we enter this Advent and Christmas season, we think of those who are not as fortunate as ourselves. In order to give hope to those in need, “the Giving Tree” will be available from 14 November through 9 December in the CPA foyer for your donations.
This year we will be supporting our local Uniting Church community service agency “Uniting” in Broadmeadows. There will be boxes around the Christmas tree to take donations of unwrapped toys or shopping items as per the below recommendations:
