Principal's Report

Welcome to Term One

Welcome back for 2020!  I would like to start by acknowledging that it has been a very challenging summer break with the devastating bushfires in Australia and the impact of the Victorian fires on many members of our community.  Recently we also experienced wild storms. I was personally subjected to the full force of the hail storm whilst driving through Warrandyte.   Now, we have concerns in our community raised by Novel Coronavirus.  The current Department of Education Advice regarding this new virus was communicated to families last week and we are committed to updating our families, staff and students if there is any change in the advice.

On a much brighter note, I hope that you have had the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends over the festive season.  I'd like to congratulate our students on the many successes with their ATAR scores and VCAL outcomes in 2019.  Such excellent ATAR results only come after years of dedicated study, in some demanding VCE courses.  Although the vast majority of our students will be studying at university, the landscape is changing and I am delighted that other students have secured credible apprenticeships or places of employment.

Thank you for your ongoing support in sending your children to us with such a positive attitude to school and learning. We couldn’t be happier with the smooth start to the year for our students.  It is exciting to see the commencement of building works on our new Junior School Building.  Please note under no circumstances are members of the public or students to enter the building site.  Fortunately the site is not located in a major thoroughfare and therefore the building works should not impact negatively on school operations.  We look forward to having an extra twelve classrooms, offices, toilets and meeting spaces available for use in late 2020.
