Wellbeing 2020

Welcome back to students, parents and community members.

The Wellbeing Team is excited to continue supporting our community in developing a positive sense of wellbeing.

Doncaster Secondary College understands that people who have a positive sense of their wellbeing are more engaged learners, caring citizens and thriving people.

We have a whole school approach to the wellbeing of each individual. Each person has unique needs. Different people have capacity to do different things and we are all ‘limbs’ of the one body. The Student Wellbeing Team is only one part of the whole school approach to wellbeing.

The Doncaster Secondary College community is a place where everyone can be empowered to care for the needs of others and when a situation is beyond their capacity they have an understanding of who they can refer to.

This understanding requires all members of our community: students, parents, staff and volunteers to be active in "Noticing, Inquiring and Planning" support. We shorten this to NIP. So as you participate in our community please notice behaviour or attitude changes, inquire out of care and concern, and then plan support which might be referring on to Discovery teachers or year level coordinators.

Another exciting aspect of the Wellbeing Team this year is the Wellbeing Placement Student (WPS) program. We currently have 27 people who are studying social work, counselling, psychology or community development. These WPS are participating in classes, working with individuals and providing support to enable our students to engage in their learning program. We are thankful for their energy and presence!

We look forward to journeying through 2020 with you.

Breakfast Club - Thursday mornings

We are lucky enough to have volunteers support our students by offering a freebreakfast and a place to be on Thursday mornings from 7:45am.

Breakfast Club has games, food and good vibes to start the day. Simply meet in the stadium foyer - all students and staff are welcome to attend.

If you have any questions please contact Katherine Lazarus (Youth Worker) at the school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
