COMMUNITY HELPERS AND FOOD SAFETY

Term 4 week 8

Another busy and fun fortnight at before and after school care.

Last week following on from our recycling week we looked at food, food safety and hygiene.

This week was Australian Food Safety Week. The theme this year was 'Food safety – raw and risky', covering the risk of food poisoning from raw or minimally cooked meat, poultry, fish, eggs and vegetables as well as the risk of possible parasite infections. We explored all things food and food safety throughout the week Food safety week was highly engaging for the children as we explored how the food we eat affects our bodies and methods to stay healthy!! 

The children especially enjoyed the nutrition sorting game, handwashing challenge and the fruit rockets.

This week we looked at Occupations within our community and the children will be able to explore what some of those jobs entail in a fun, play-based approach. We have done so many occupation based activites including Community Helper Hats & Vehicles & Career Bingo, DIY Community Helpers, Vet & Pet Grooming & Career Charades, our Beauty Salon and lots more

VACATION CARE

Bookings for current enrolments will be open tonight on Hubhello !

Flyers will go home next week to all families with all the exciting things we have planned. To give you some idea of what we have planned we have 5 excursions, 3 Incursions and 6 amazing service based days !

EXCURSIONS INCLUDE – Melbourne Zoo, Twisted Science, Hoyts Movies and the Enchanted Gardens

INCURSIONS INCLUDE– Splashtastic Water Play, Wacky Races and our yoga and wellness day

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2023

• For those who are already planning for January – Vacation Care will run from the 9th to the 27th January. Look out for our New Prep special days where our 2023 preps are very welcome to come and join us at Vacation Care and meet some new friends.
• As above Vacation care bookings will open via Hubhello on Friday 25th November at midnight as January holidays are so busy we recommend to book in early.
• New Preps should have received their enrolment packs during prep orientation this week.
• All children need to re enrol for 2023. Forms will go out to families at the end of November.
