Principal's Report

Dear St A's community!

What a way to end the week with our annual Market Day for missions!  The amazing students in 5/6 came together and created market stalls for the wider community to purchase from.  The stalls raised over $4000 and this will be given to charity and will help many others in need.  A most fantastic effort once again by our wonderful community!

This week we have again run our 2023 Prep transitions sessions and next week will be our last ones.   We have been so happy to see the new prep 2023 students in action and watch as they continue to settle into their new learning environments.  Next week the prep 2023 students will meet their 'big' Grade 6 buddies and parents will gather together to finalise bag purchases and get the final information required to start at our school.

COVID

Once again we are seeing covid 19 cases sneak back into our school community.  Please make sure that if you or your children show any symptoms that you test your child and wait for the results.  Our school has a huge amount of RAT tests available.  If any family are in need we can send as many home as you need.

2023 School Year

Next week our staff will be putting together the class lists for the 2023 year.  The process is a very complex one, ensuring that the right mix of students is placed together, with the right teacher.  When placing students into a class we look at a number of factors including:

  • friendship groups
  • academics
  • social/emotional needs
  • parent requests
  • teacher requests
  • student ratios

All students will have the opportunity to select 4 friends that they ideally would like to be with next year.  When working out the classes, we will ensure that all students will receive at least one selected friend from their list.   If parents have any reasonable requests, please email them directly to me.

Next week our Grade 3/4 students will be heading off to camp at Cave Hill Creek.  This is the first school camp for this cohort of students, so we wish them all the best as they embark on a new learning adventure.  We look forward to hearing all about this camp when they return.

The last day of school is Friday the 16th of December for students in Prep to Grade 5.  We will end the school year with the 'Colour Run' which I'm sure will be a fantastic event for our community.  A big thank you to all the families that have generously raised funds.

In very exciting news - our school puppy will be collected next Thursday! She is still too young to be at school, however we will send lots of photos.  We have teamed with 'Dogs Connect' and the core care team are working through a number of modules to prepare the school for the introduction of our 'wellbeing' puppy.  St A's is very lucky to be part of this extraordinary program!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the little bit of sunshine tomorrow.
