Interschool Sport at Koonung
Congratulations to Ava Kentrotis, Kate Allen, Grave Sharkie, Hailey Oakley, Jude Crouch, Bridget Dods, Nathanael Uecker and Toby Griffith for making it all the way to State in the Cross Country. We are very proud of the efforts and the manner in which our students represented Koonung in both the lead up event and in the State event at Yarra Glen racecourse. The wintry conditions and muddy track on the day presented challenges but our students made the most of the occasion and gave it a red hot go. You should all be so proud
Toby – 13th

Intermediate School Sport
On Tuesday 26 July, thirty-two keen Year 9 and 10 students travelled to Nunawading Basketball Centre to compete in the Whitehorse District interschool basketball competition. Thank you to Mr Kennedy for selecting the teams, unfortunately he was ill on the day and unable to attend.
Koonung entered four teams - a girls’ team, and three boys teams.
All students represented the school in an enthusiastic and encouraging manner. They played well as a team and were very supportive of not just their own teammates but also other teams from our school (and even other local schools).
The level of competition was very challenging (especially when one local school offers an elite basketball program) but all Koonung students put in their best efforts and most importantly fun and enjoyed the day.
Participants on the day were:
Back: Holly, Swathi, Abby, Sienna, Molly, Ella, Front: Nann-Chan, Shaylea, Kate,
Russell, Quenya, Liam, Lucas, Joshua, Luca, Jake, Aryan
Adoni, Emilio, Gabe, Pal, Hugo, Tim, Fletcher, Jack
Bruce, Eric, Kirby, Tim, Trent, Amrik, Max
Sen Li and Trevor vanden Driesen

Whitehorse Division Year 8 & Junior Boys/Mixed Netball Competition
In the last week of Term 2, the Years 8s competed in the Interschool netball tournament in Vermont. There were 6 teams in total; 2 girls' teams and 2 boys' teams. We competed against many schools including Blackburn Secondary, East Doncaster Secondary, Box Hill High School and a few more. Overall, Koonung played well and finished the day happy and proud of ourselves. The girls A team won 2 out of 3 games, the girls B team won 3 out of 5 games, the boys A team won 1 out of 3 and the boys B team won 1 out of 3 It was a great day of netball and I know everyone had such a good time on court!

It was a joy to take these girls to the Eastern Metropolitan Secondary Netball Intermediate Girls Region Final. The competition was tough and the girls fought hard on the day, resulting in one win and two losses.

Congratulations Bridget!
Congratulations to Bridget Dods who was selected for the U/15s Ladies Chisholm Netball team to represent the region in the state finals. Chisolm is the best of the best representative players from Doncaster and Districts of Boroondara, Melbourne East, Ariels and Whitehorse Netball Associations. Bridget will train together with her team over the next two months leading up to the Victorian State Titles which will be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre in Parkville from 30 September to 2 October. We wish Bridget the very best and are looking forward to following her team throughout the event. Well done Bridget!
