Seussical The Musical

Congratulations!

"Oh, the things you can think".  Oh, the things that we saw. Seussical, the Musical was pure joy. From the initial auditions at the end of 2017 to the weekend of performances in early May 2018. The show was directed by Amy Smedley, a Year 11 student who was supported by the Year 12 Arts Captain Hannah Clarke and Year 10 student Chloe Smedley. Year 12 student, Nikola Separovic choreographed a number of dance numbers and worked with the lead dancers after school to ensure each dance move was perfect.  Year 8 student Abbey Lucas ensured that each cast member had a costume that perfectly reflected each cast members character. Without the commitment of these students, the show would not have been the success that it was.

All students are to be commended for their leadership and artistic abilities.  It was a joy to see students of all year levels work together, supporting each other backstage and on stage. All their hard work and rehearsals resulted in a colourful musical that has been enjoyed by all. We are already thinking about the next musical in 2020.

A big thank you to the cast and crew, and all staff who worked tirelessly on this show.

There really is no business like show business ...

Cast, take a bow, we are so proud of you!

Backstage Viewpoint

My name is Lauren Vander I am a Year 8 student, and I was a backstage crew member for Seussical the Musical. It was my first year being a part of the production and although I am not the kind of person to get up on stage and perform myself, it is important for me that I take part in school activities. Backstage was just the place for me. From a backstage point of view, all 3 shows ran smoothly. I am extremely proud of everyone that was backstage and am very grateful to have such an amazing support crew helping us, Mr Gonzalez, Mr Tresize, Altona Theatre crew and Ms Anastasi. At the end of the production, the backstage crew could have been on the stage ourselves as we knew all the lyrics and dance moves. It was a fun experience and I will definitely be back for the next production.

On behalf of the backstage crew, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made this production possible. It was a huge success and a great weekend.

Cast Member Viewpoint

Seussical The Musical was an amazing experience. The cast had so much fun in rehearsals, preparing our characters and scenes leading up to the actual show. It was so much fun, meeting new people and making new friends. It was a lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice but in the end, it was all worth it. As a cast member, my favourite part of this whole experience was performing for the Grade 4 students at our dress rehearsal. They were an amazing audience. On behalf of the cast, I would like to thank all the teachers and parents/carers who helped us on this Seussical journey. Joy was ignited in all of us, and we hope that our audience were filled with joy too. I cannot wait for the next musical in 2 years time.
