Public Speaking

Debating

In August we had a wonderful week of debating at the Warrnambool Debating Eisteddfod. We had teams from Year 7 through to year 12.  We had some super coaching from SEAL teachers Matt Buck and Kelly Brown at the junior levels and I thank them for their input into the program.  Due to some ill health among administrators of the event we are still waiting on  medals and trophies. I will ensure pictures will be posted of the recipients once these arrive.  I would like to announce a few achievements ahead of the arrival of the awards. Firstly I would like to congratulate Tiffany Tracey of Year 12 for being awarded  the  region’s BEST VCE debater . Congratulations Tiffany! In the attached picture Tiffany is on the right of the table as third speaker.   The accolades continue as we congratulate Eliza Hoffman of Year 8 for being judged as the BEST Year 7/8 Debater, a huge achievement considering there would have been over 80 junior debaters. The best Year 7/8  debate included  one of our year 8 teams represented by Lara Vincent, Olivia Holdway and Olive Adams. The formidable  7/8 team of Klara Holland , Eliza McLauchlan and Eliza Hoffman won first place as best debate team. Congratulations all and I looked forward to posting a report complete with pictures of all award winners.

Lions Youth of the Year

This week on Wednesday night (September 4th) Meg Reuel represented Warrnambool College in the Lions Youth of the Year Project. In this Project students are scored on their personality, academic ability, community involvement and their public speaking expertise. Meg was outstanding in all aspects of the project and was also awarded the overall Public Speaking winner. Congratulations Meg!
