Year 8 Picture Storybook Launch
On Wednesday night, 28th August, Warrnambool College opened the new C rooms to celebrate the launch of the year 8 picture storybooks. It was a fantastic night celebrating the amazing work that students have produced throughout the unit. Out of each class, teachers selected nominees for three categories: best artwork, best narrative and best art/narrative combination. It was very difficult for teachers to even choose nominees for each category, as the work from each class was completed to such a high standard.
The nominees and winners for each category were:
Best narrative:
Jemma Boylan
Niamh Stoddart
Isabel Deppeler
Blair Sextus
Millie Barling
Eliza Hoffman
Nate Kearns
Psalm Morales
Winner: Akira Earnshaw
Best art:
Georgia Turner
Harry Dodson
Belle McKendry
Tayah Polack
Milla Darminin
Isabel Remine
Nora Stromvall-O’Brien
Hayley Stephens
Winner: Scarlett Westhorpe
Best combination:
Tara Alexander
Eliza Hoy
Halle Bilson
Charlee Hong
Ollie Dixon
Charlotte Townsend
Shakira Brown
Tjula Holder
Winner: Eliza McLauchlan
There were also three students recognised for their persistence and creativity in The Hulin Award- Chance Kelly, Hayley Carr and Josh Lee and the people’s choice award (voted on and decided on the night) went to Niamh Stoddart.
Thanks to all the parents, guardians, students and staff who supported the night.
Primary Links
As a part of the Primary School Links program year 8 students went to Warrnambool Primary School and Warrnambool East Primary School this week to read their picture storybooks to students. It was fantastic to have a real audience to give feedback to our students. After reading their books, year 8 students asked the grade 3-4 students what their thoughts were and if they could find the moral or message of each book. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and it was a great experience for the year 8 students.
Thanks to the primary schools for opening up their doors to us!
