Deputy Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Safeguarding at St Finbar's

This week our staff welcomed a guest speaker Mr Simon Davies to our staff meeting. Simon is the Director of Safeguarding Services, which provides specialist training and advisory services to organisations who have a duty of care to safeguard children, and young people from all forms of abuse. 

Simon reminded us of our responsibilities as educators to be constantly vigilant and the laws surrounding our obligations to protect the children in our care.  Together with Simon's expertise we are working towards best practice at St Finbar's to ensure each of our children and their families feel safe at school. 

Learning Leaders Activities and Play

This week we have started a new initiative at St Finbar's.  In order to provide some different play options for students on the playground, the Year 6 Leaders will be facilitating games or activities each Tuesday and Thursday Snack Time.  Normally the activity will be targeted towards Prep to 2 students on Tuesdays, and Years 3 to 6 on Thursdays. This week it was the Italian Leaders turn to lead the activities, which were a big hit.  Thanks to Miss Kay for coordinating this program, and to Katia, Ava, Mia, Nicola and Lola for organising charades, skipping and basketball this week.
