Cake & Sloths in the Library? 

This week we celebrated the National Simultaneous Story Time at John Paul II. Every class listened to the delightful picture book selected for 2023, The Speedy Sloth, written by Rebecca Young and illustrated by Heath McKenzie. We also learnt about sloths and participated in sloth activities.

One lucky class, 3/4 Myrtle, who have been the best borrowers this year, enjoyed a party with a special sloth cake. This cake was cooked by our amazing new kitchen team, Mr Comino and Mrs Henwood, who will soon start providing healthy cooked lunches for our school community. Staff and students have already had the opportunity to taste test some of their delicious cooking.

Some individual students who received special awards also attended the sloth party. These students have been great borrowers and readers and demonstrated excellent application in library lessons. Congratulations to the following students.

At John Paul II we love reading, and we look forward to giving out more awards during Book Week (in August) to recognise achievements in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, which starts on the 26th June.

Now our new auditorium is almost completed, we are excitedly looking forward to the imminent commencement of our new library building and all the opportunities this will provide our students.
