Grade 3/4 Blackwood

In Grade 3/4 Blackwood we have been working hard to fulfill the weekly challenges set by Mr Gill around 'The Fruits of the Spirit'. In Week 1 we brainstormed some ways that we are able to show kindness by helping others in the community throughout the year. Some of our ideas included, fundraising or donating goods to an animal shelter and making an extra effort to include or visit someone who might feel excluded or lonely.

During Week 2 we talked about joy, and practiced reflecting daily on the good things in our lives. We created a gratitude tree recording all the things that we are grateful for and added them to our tree throughout the week, sharing them as a class at the end.

In Week 3 we focussed on peace, having quiet times in our classroom where we practiced different relaxation techniques including sitting in silence in our heart room, guided meditation, relaxation techniques and quiet prayer. Week 4 saw us focus on being patient. We researched some Bible verses relating to patience and emphasized the importance of raising your hand and patiently waiting your turn to speak so that everyone's voice is heard.

This week's fruit of the Spirit challenge area is kindness. We found it very easy to come up with many ways to show kindness and as a class decided that we would create a book containing kind and positive messages. At the end of the week we will send this book to a nearby aged care home. We are looking forward to working together to learn more about the Fruits of the Spirit and how we can use them to help us be our best possible selves.

Grade 3/4 Myrtle

Over the last few weeks in Myrtle we have been reading and using procedure texts. One of the texts we used was some instructions on how to make the fastest paper plane. We made them, we decorated them and we flew them. We all did an excellent job, with Cleo's plane coming first! Mr McGuinness and Mr Prichard also made a plane and it was the first one they had EVER made! Can you believe that?

We have also been learning to skateboard in PE lessons. We started off a bit wobbly but we are growing in confidence and some of us can now do some "fully sick" moves!
