Year 9 and 10 Mathematics Enhancement Program

Year 9 and 10 students are invited to a maths enhancement program at the La Trobe University Bendigo campus.

The program is aimed at enthusiastic students interested in tackling maths problems that take them beyond the school curriculum. No preparation is required.

In our sessions we provide students with challenging problems and allow them to devise their own approaches to solving them, giving occasional guidance when needed. We encourage collaboration and experimentation, hopefully allowing students to experience some of the excitement (and frustration) that we do in our own research.

We will begin with two 90 minute pilot sessions:

Wednesday 24th April, 4pm

Thursday 2nd May, 4pm

Meet in the ground floor Foyer of the Business and Technology Building near Gate 2, Edwards Rd and Car Park 9.

Parents and students will need to organise their own transport to and from La Trobe University.

Information

Competition date: Wednesday May 1, 2019 at 9:15am.

Junior  (2 hours duration)

Year 7 and 8

Intermediate (3 hours duration)

Year 9 and 10

Senior (3 hours duration)

Year 11 and 12 

The competition is designed so that mathematical insight and ingenuity are needed for success rather than efficiency in tackling routine examples.

The competition is conducted at school and the entry cost is $5 per student.
