On Tuesday 21st June, 34 Grade 3-6 students represented SCC at the Tasmanian State All Schools Primary Cross Country in relatively mild air temperatures, light wind and some sunshine. Well done to our students for their excellent participation and effort!

Students were asked, “What was the most important thing you learnt when you raced today?” Responses included, “Try your hardest”, “Don’t give up”, “Try your best”, “Keep going and be happy”, “Do your best”, “Have fun no matter what place you come”, “Don’t slip over in the mud”, “Sprint at the start because it’s hard to over-take people later in the race”, “Its not as easy as it looks”, “Even if you don’t come first you can still be proud of yourself”, “That winning doesn’t matter, you have to do your best”, “That we had fun”, “To pace yourself”.

Students were also asked what Fruit of the Spirit and Learner Profiles were important for them. Responses included “Joy”, “Risk-taker”, “Patience because I had to wait in line for a long time”, “Principled because I didn’t want to do it”, “Kindness because I encouraged people along in their race”.

Thank you, parents, for enabling your child to attend. Thank you, Mrs Ambrose, for organising this event and Mr Richardson, Mrs de Weys and Mr Headley for accompanying, supporting and encouraging our students.

Approximately 90 schools participated, and each race had about 250 runners.
