We are incredibly proud of all our alumni who demonstrate such excellence, longevity and diversity across the full range of employment opportunities in the dance industry. There are so many currently working that we could include them all, so here are just a few.
We congratulate our staff member and Alumnus Ms Nicole Melloy and current Year 8 student Will Wiseman for their roles in the recent season of The Who’s Tommy at the Palais Theatre here in Melbourne. What a thrill to have them on stage together!
The cast of An American in Paris also includes a number of alumni - Olivia Castagna, Corey Herbert, Eli Cooper, Sydney Patterson and Joe Miller.
Genevieve O’Keefe is joining Nederlans Dans Theater, one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. After completing Year 12 at VCASS, Genevieve graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, subsequently joined the West Australian ballet Company, Theatre St Gallen in Switzerland, Musiktheater Im Revier in Germany and now Nederlans Dans Theater 1 in Den Haag Holland.
Nathan Pavey from West Side Story has recently returned to Melbourne and spent some time with our Year 12s, talking about his career so far, and inspiring them with his optimistic approach and work ethic. He is one of the legions of Alumni currently working across Australia and overseas, and we love to have them back here to speak and inspire our students - and staff!
Amy Lim is joining Ballet national de Marseille this season - having recently trained at Codarts in Rotterdam, Holland.
We are Here - by Jennifer Ma & Collaborators
We love hearing from our VCASS Alumni and sharing what they are up to! 2015 Graduate Jareen Wee has just finished their latest production at Upstairs Studio, Dancehouse - We Are Here by Jennifer Ma & Collaborators, a new interdisciplinary dance work interweaving expressions of Krump, Contemporary Dance, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word placing empathy at the forefront of the Asian diasporic experience.
