THEATRE ARTS
Message from Theatre Arts
Students in the Theatre Arts program have almost reached the end of a busy first term. Last week saw Year 11 students share within class scenes from Classical Greek plays. Duologues from The Lysistrata, The Trojan Women, Medea and other plays of the ancient era were shared.
Year 12 students are finalising rehearsals before the opening of this year’s devised music theatre production, Little Boxes. Director Ross Hannaford and vocal coach Nick Hedger have crafted a collaborative piece that has been largely developed by the students of the company. Performances will take place at The Lawler Studio on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 April. Tickets are available through the MTC website.
Looking forward to second term, Year 12 Theatre Arts students will present Love and Informationby Caryl Churchill. This play is part of the course requirements of VCE Theatre Studies and members of the company are currently finalising design and performance elements that will feature in the rendering of this exciting contemporary work.
Performances will take place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26
May at The Lawler Studio.
Second semester will see Year 11 and 12 students involved in further performances, details of which are yet to be finalised.
