Jazz Cabaret Evening

On Friday 1 April, we will hold a Jazz Cabaret Evening for all Years 7 to 12 students and parents. Family and friends are invited to attend. Please bring a plate of food and drink and enjoy a fun and relaxed evening.

This year, the Jazz Cabaret will be held at the Glen Eira Town Hall in the Auditorium Banquet room. The Cabaret will be transformed into an intimate jazz performance environment with table settings and chairs.

This is a unique opportunity for students to perform in a relaxed and supportive environment.

To book your seat/s at a table, please click here. This year, there will be a minimal fee of $15 per adult. Students tickets are complimentary.

Please note: All students performing will be seated backstage and do not need to book a ticket.

The Cabaret commences at 6.00pm and will conclude at approximately 8.30pm.

Valedictory Dinner for Class of 2021

Melody Xu, Year 10

On 3 March, the Kilvington Celtic Band performed at the Valedictory Dinner for the Class of 2021. It was our first gig since the Jazz Cabaret last year, and we were all thrilled to perform again. It was great to see the teachers and the Class of 2021 mingling together while listening to our music.

Apart from some funny inconveniences (like the wind blowing our sheet music off our Music Stand), it was a fun experience for us all. We were glad that everyone enjoyed the music.

Theatre Studies Unit 3 Production - Boy Girl Wall

Our 2022 Theatre Studies class is currently in rehearsal for Boy Girl Wall, the multi-award winning and critically-acclaimed humorous and quirky play.

Come watch the calculated chaos unfold as we follow our main characters, Thom and Alethea, two neighbours desperately trying to keep their lives from falling apart. In the new 'black box' space in Dalton Hall, we are taking the audience on a journey from the beginning of time, travelling through Thom’s work struggles and Alethea’s unwritten children’s book while dodging the evil horrors of 'The Magpie of Montague Road'.

Get ready for a night of laughter, ensemble challenge, and just a touch of romance. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

It turns out that putting on a play is harder than it looks, so your enthusiasm and company on Tuesday 29 or Wednesday 30 March means everything.

Please make a pink or blue note donation at the door for a ticket.

Co-director | Elena Stuckey de la Banda (Year 12)

Performances:

Tues 29 March and Wed 30 March, 7.30pm,

Dalton Hall .

2022 School Musical - Mamma Mia

Rehearsal for Mamma Mia has been in full swing since Week 1. Even with the mask wearing, our energy and passion has been 100%.

Here's what’s been happening, seen through the eyes of two of our leads, Renae Bekas (Donna Sheridan) and Agrata Sharma (Sophie Sheridan).

Renae Bekas and Agrata Sharma, Year 11

Rehearsals have been a unique experience for us. We have been in several productions at Kilvington since 2015, and so far, work on Mamma Mia has the feel of a completely fresh approach to the process of creating a show.

Many in the cast have a lot of experience with theatrical singing, while scene rehearsals are giving us a chance to develop our vocal tone, characterisation and acting skills. The iconic ABBA songs are inspiring toe-tapping choreography, and it’s so fun to watch them come to life in the dances that we can’t wait to share with you.

Meanwhile, it’s really exciting to see the production set start to materialise. We’ve seen sketches of the final design, and from what we’ve heard, Dalton Hall is going to be transformed for our audiences.

As always, our Wednesday and Thursday afternoons are a great time to interact with students from other year levels, and to get to know those whom we don't always get an opportunity to speak to. It’s the largest cast in quite some time at Kilvington!

There’s still a while to go, but we’re getting closer to opening night, and we are so thrilled we will be able to entertain you in May! Can’t wait!

Performances:

Thurs 19, Fri 20 and Sat 21 May, 7.30pm,

Dalton Hall

Friday Afternoon Soirees

The Friday Afternoon Soirees will recommence from this Friday March 11, starting at 3.45pm and concluding between 4.15 to 4.30pm. They will be held in PVC7.

The Soirees provide a brilliant opportunity for music and speech/drama students of all levels, who learn both at School and privately, to perform in front of a supportive audience.

Please note that all adult attendees will need to show their ‘green immunisation tick’ to attend.

The dates for the Term 1 soirees are

March 11, 18 and 25 and April 2 and 9.

Please note that, as in past years, students who are performing solos in other Kilvington concerts/soirees should take the opportunity to perform in a Friday Afternoon Soiree beforehand.

Please feel free to email Ms Carmel Slater at slaterc@kilvington.vic.edu.au for further information.

New initiatives

In the coming weeks, we will be introducing the Performer’s Lounge - recorded performances of our Senior School students either completing VCE music or completing AMEB exams or competitions.

We will also be sharing performers of the week. Watch this space!
