Campus Principal Report

It’s been a really big few weeks for our Year 12s, starting with their last day of classes on Wednesday 19th October followed by the Celebration Day on 20th October which included a campus assembly and luncheon.

Our students must be commended – they were so grateful for a significant celebration day and in return so respectful towards the College, their teachers and peers. The VCE students were back at school the following day for the Year 12 Masterclass preparation day- to help maximise their exam preparation. A few short days later the VCE students commenced their exams, beginning with English and EAL. We currently have a handful of exams still to go! I’m sure they will be relieved when they are all done!!

On Cup Eve, we had the Year 12 Graduation at the prestigious Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University in Clayton. The students were all dressed in gowns and were announced across the stage to collect their graduation certificate from Principal John Baston, and Alumni keyring from our Council President, Lee-Anne Theodorou. It was wonderful to see so many family members come to support and celebrate this milestone event. We had so many staff who attended on the evening to assist with duties for the smooth running of the evening and also to show support to the students. Senior School Assistant Principals, Robyn Hughes and Jonathon Boyd did an amazing job organising the Graduation!

The new Wellbeing Space at Acacia Campus has been finalised! It was an old locker bay that was used only for storage. Our Wellbeing Team have not moved into the new space yet, as we have used the space for the smaller VCE exams that are still running.

On Tuesday 8th November we had the Year 7 Band performances at Acacia. The Semester 2 concerts demonstrate just how much the students have learnt, as their performances were markedly more complex and sounded fantastic. It was amazing to see such a large audience of supportive family members. Congratulations to Basil Rizopoulos and all of the Instrumental Music staff for their hard work and commitment throughout the year, and organisation of such a wonderful event.

Exams for Year 7 – 11 students are nearly upon us! Many classes have commenced their revision lessons to help students prepare for their exams. We are hopeful that students will be studying productively in the coming weeks to ensure they can perform their best in the exams.
