Ministry

As we approach the end of the year, I’ve been confronted with the relentless hurry and busyness of our world. At Christmas time, the unstoppable hustle and bustle of society wreaks havoc in our lives. Everyone is in a rush, the to-do lists grow longer, the anxiety rises, and so many of us are crawling to the finish line. In a world that is so focused on ruthless production and unending work, it's hard to slow down and pay attention to what really matters.

I’ve just finished reading a book called, ‘The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry’ by John Mark Comer. In his book, he debunks the hurried rhythm of society that demands us to work more, strive for more, and be more by proposing a new way forward; an imaginative pathway to a life marked by simplicity, slowness, and rest.

After a long hard year, we find ourselves searching for the secret to happiness, satisfaction, and true rest. In his book, John unfolds that just maybe we are looking in the wrong places for relief.

He asks, “What if the secret to a happy life isn’t “out there” but much closer to home? What if all you had to do was slow down long enough for the merry-go-round blur of life to come into focus?

Slow down. Jump off the merry-go-round. Let the blur of life come into focus as you approach the end of 2022.
