Junior AFL

Introduce this – when and who played? We did not get the win but what an exciting game!!!

In the first half, St Peter’s got out to a 21-6 lead. St Gregory’s regrouped and displayed outstanding skills and determination in the 3rd quarter to get within 2 points of St Peter’s (27-25). Unfortunately, in the 4th quarter, we could not capitalise on the momentum from the previous quarter and lost 40- 27. Special mention to Sabah Paki and Amelia Howe who provided accurate clearing kicks in defence and Jennifer Bartlett and Austin Belak, using pinpoint accuracy when having shots at goal.

After the match, the team was disappointed with the result but they did acknowledge the positive improvements they made and they are looking forward to continuing to improve in Week 6.

Newcomb Ball

This week saw our Newcomb Ball Team come up against St Peter’s. We began the first set with some strong serves but then had numerous dropped balls in quick succession which saw us lose the first set 24-20.

We were off to a flying start in both attack and defence as the second set commenced. Although there were many great rallies and it came down to match point, St Peter’s were just too good on the day and we were defeated in the second set 25-24.

Even though we were beaten the team showed great sportsmanship as well as encouragement towards one another. They are looking forward to their upcoming game in Week 6.

Junior Netball

With the final score 5-3, we can say ‘another week, another win!’. The St Peter’s defence was quite strong, making short work of our attacking in the first half. While we kept them at bay and stayed in front the whole game, the St Gregory’s team came together quite nicely in the second half, showing strength as a team knowing where their teammates were moving to, passing and shooting the ball accurately. Ivy Quig and Lucy Stewart were again standouts in the second friendly match against St Peter’s, making many plays and turnovers that ended in goals.

A special thank you to Ava Sheedy from the Senior Team for umpiring the game at short notice, when the opposition was without an umpire. Your flexibility and willingness to assist is much appreciated.

We are looking forward to another friendly match in a fortnight.

Junior Boys Soccer

What a fantastic game! The boys showed great improvement in defence this week, but unfortunately, St Peter’s brought their A-game and won 3-1. Congratulations to the boys on their improved communication on the field this week, it was great to see them supporting each other throughout the game. Special mention to Mitchel Harding for getting past St Peter’s defence and scoring a sensational goal. We look forward to versing St Peter’s in Week 6 and we will continue training in preparation for our final game of the year.
